- Sometimes a song just chills me to the bone. I have always been a big fan of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song", a beautiful song with some of the strongest lyrics around. It's a perfect song in lots of ways. So when I heard that Johnny Cash was making a cover of Marleys masterpiece I was actually a bit nervous. I love Cash, but I was affraid he was making a fool of himself doing this song. Man, was I relieved when I heard it the first time. And when Joe Strummer from The Clash joined him, I was crying tears of joy.
- This version is a respectful hommage to Bob Marley, and still manage to have it's own soul. There's no point trying to find out which song is best. It's irrelavant. "Redemption Song" suits Cash and Strummer perfect. I really believe the lyric when Johnny and Joe deliever it. One of the best songs around, the sad part thou, is that Joe Strummer, Johnny Cash and Bob Marley is not among us anymore, but the good thing is that their music still lives on!
